Hi I'm Senator Tom Harkin
This month marks the 21st anniversary of the American's with Disabilities Act.
As the chief author and the sponsor of that bill in the United States Senate
we've seen many changes in those 21 years.
Everything from curb cuts, to things like this
which shows you that this building, the Hart office building, where I have my office
has an accessible entrance. Which means, not only do we have stairs, but we have a ramp.
And so Terhas, who is on my staff, and I are going to go down the ramp and we'll see you at the bottom.
So, when we come down the ramp and we come up to the doors
of course for Terhas it would be hard to get in there
but she just punches that little blue thing right there and the doors open.
See you later Terhas.
So ADA has changed a lot of things here in Washington, in Iowa, and around the country.
How has the ADA affected your life?
If you've got some examples, let me know on Facebook
or on my website at http://harkin.senate.gov
