With giant steps our miniature garden show
in approaching its completition.
In order to set the area in all its glory,
there's still a lot of work to do.
First we have to 'plant' up to 150.000 flowers
arrange parking lots, and raise little booths.
Even for our model makers this load of work was too much.
Therefore we had to hire helping hands
who supported them on site.
'Here for example, we'll set large flower beds.'
'Arne is busy with arranging ornamental circles
- it takes an enormous amount of love and patience.'
'Alexander is working on the next plate,
which will be set up upon Arne's.
The ground plates are being arranged like this in terraces.'
Our appeal in the forum was greeted with enthusiasm,
and many of our fans were participating.
They were colouring and gluing the tiny flowes at home,
and then sent them back to our model maker team.
Today's the day to build everything up,
and the first IGS-plate is being carried to the layout.
Because of the narrow space we have to take a detour.
Set in place, the model makers have to connect
the electric wires through prepared holes,
in order to supply the LEDs on the scenery with power.
The weight of the plantes calls for many suportiv hands.
At the joint seams of the plates we have to
make sure that the river beds are sealed with sillicone.
This way we make sure that no liquid will seep
through the plates while pouring the artificial water.
'We are pouring in two-component cast resign
as a water substitute.
'This will be the last work phase. Then we just hope,
that it won't trickle anywhere...'
The viscous material will spread slowly, but surely
along the whole river.
After 6 hours it will be cured, and we can be sure
that there's no leak,
and the joint seams were sealed properly.
On the day of the Grand Opening photographers and
camera teams are preparing to capture the celebratory act.
'Good morning, and welcome to Miniature Wunderland.
I appreciate that so many of you have followed
out invitation to this event.
We are very happy to greet Mr. Baumgarten,
the executiy director of the IGS.'
'Yes, Mr. Braun, many thanks for this beautiful
initiative to play upon the topic garden,
and the garden show here, at Miniature Wunderland.
I believe, that many guests here, and later on the
garden show will consider this a beautiful connection.
Espacially, as the topic of this '81st' garden will virtually
top all the features to be seen in scale of 1:1
at the International Garden Show later on.'
'I'd say, we shall get down to action and take a look,
at all the things you can discover in the 81st garden'
Aftern the curtain fell, media representatives had the
opportunity to capture impressions of the little 'IGS'.
Interviews for Radio and TV broadcast were lining up,
and of course, a shooting was on the schedule.
'We have a little surprise, Mr. Baumgarten!
We built a miniature version of you.'
'Yes, i think this is a beautiful deception of the park
on thid confided area.
I can find many ideas of the park here as well.
There are images which you can recongnize
in the real park.
For example thee climbing gym, but also the flower beds
which turned out, beautifully.
Most of all, the element water which was integrated in
which was integrated in the all-over design.
In so far, i believe that this model sparks enthusiasm
to visit the large park as well.'
On April 26th the large IGS will open its doors.
Since then you can marvel a the floral splendour at the
egde to the Scandinavia-Layout.
The workshops are nearly finished.
At our last visit here, everything was being built, still.
Now, we can proudly present our new workshops
for our electricians and model makers.
They are already busy again with old and new models.
Next to generous work places, there's enough
room for all materials and tools.
Much is new at the modeller's department.
Next to work benches with different heights, in order to
provide the very best working conditions, there is even
one table which is adjustable.
The open design allows for exange during work, but also
enough room for each model maker.
If you haven't had the opportunity, yet, you now have
the chance to cath a glance of our open work shops.
They are located on the third floor,
on the same level of our cinema.
It's 11:30 p.m., the evening of the 1st of May.
Unusual for this time of day, there ane many guests
crowding our registers.
In celebrating of the 34th Church Day, we are daring a
a unique attempt:
World's first miniature church service in the
Miniature Wunderland.
Reverend Ekehaard Masse is preparing for his speech.
'To compare this small world to the big one
raises the question: How do God look at us?
Does he see us as these tiny homans walking around,
who possibly we don't care about,
or who he does not care about?
I don't believe that's the way it is.
God is intervening, is keeping a certain distance.
He knows to assess all problems, and we can intercede,
and i trust in this notion.'
As soon as the lights were dimmed,
a cosy atmosphere arose.
Live-music made for approciate accompaniment.
A miniature church service at Miniature Wunderland:
a welcomed end of the day for the exhausted co-workers.
'The church service was a nice conclusion
for the evening, because, when you've worked all day,
you could relax in this light.
Also, it was short and to the point.
It was a great calm down
- probably, we'll be sleeping deeply relaxed.
'Big Tugs and Small Trains' - Miniature Wunderland is
offering this special experience on selected dates.
First, you will enjoy the evening harbour from a new
perspective on one of Hamburg's quaint launch boats.
The captain will give you informative and entertaining
insights into the history and present
of the Hamburg harbour.
'The harbour had a handling of 154.000 tons
last year. They are seperated in to containers...
Afterwards, you'll have the opportunity to visit
Miniature Wunderland without any waiting queues.
Plus, we will present the history of our little world,
and you may take a look at the scenes underneath
and behind the layouts America and Switzerland.
Due to the success of the first event of this kind, we
are again offering the opportunity to get enchanted
by the big and small Hamburg.
