Whoa! Your clothes are smoking hot!
Thanks. I really appreciate it.
No, I mean, your clothes smell like they are burn.
My dryer makes my clothes smell burnt! What can I do?
The first step is to check the dryer’s lint trap. If that is clogged, it may get hot enough
to start burning.
As in a fire hazard?
If your clothes smell burnt, you’re not too far off from the house burning down.
But I clean it regularly.
Another possible cause is the dryer hose. If lint is trapped there, it gets blasted
with hot air until it gets hotter and hotter.
And generates a burnt smell before it burns the house down. Well, I’m here, so it isn’t
that bad yet.
If the hose is kinked or trapping lint, you can straighten it and clean it. Or you could
replace it.
What else could cause this?
A third possibility is the exhaust tube within the dryer. Cleaning that may require taking
the dryer apart, and for that, you should get a pro.
Especially with my natural gas line.
If your dryer isn’t electric and runs off natural gas, you have to get a professional.
The burnt smell might be coming from the pilot light or the gas line.
I hate to think the problem is the gas line.
Because it’s greener than electricity? At least you have enough eco-friendly fall back?
What’s that?
Solar power. String up some rope outside to create a solar dryer.
Could the problem be the heating element?
If you even think it is the heating element causing a burning smell, unplug the dryer
and call an appliance repair guy. That is a severe fire hazard.
To be safe, I’ll use the dryer cord as my clothes line.
Please make sure you unplug the cord before you try to cut it. You’d be shocked to find
out how much that hurts.
