Hi, this is Eldon Martin of Great Cove Adventure Films.
Today I'm going to give you a breif tutorial on how to snell your own hooks.
Many of the local tackle stores here
don't have the larger catfish hooks pre-snelled
so I like to snell my own, and that also allows me to make the leader however long I want it.
So have a look and learn how to snell your own hooks.
All right, to snell your own hook
put the end of the line through the eye of the book
pull about five or six inches of extra line through
then hold on to the line
and wrap
the end of the line
around the shank of the hook
about five or six times working back toward the eye.
And then finally...
hold that all in place
and put the end of the line
through the little loop that was created.
And then
pull that as well as the main line
that pulls everything tight.
And then just tighten everything up
and you're finished.
