My perfect day in the Hamptons would have to start with first thing in the morning getting
out of bed and taking a tour around my backyard, and seeing what’s going on in my gardens.
When I don’t have to be rushing out to work I love seeing what’s coming up next, taking
my pruning shears with me to maybe do a little dead heading, maybe cutting some flowers and
making an arrangement in my kitchen. Then I’m probably heading out to the beach for
an early morning run before it gets too hot, because in the summer if it’s fall or winter
I’m probably waiting a little bit later until it warms up a little bit. Again, when
the weather’s nice I’ll wait for my friend to maybe go do a little kayaking; she lives
by Mecox Bay so we have a special kayak that we do where we kayak across Mecox Bay. When
you kayak across Mecox Bay you end up at the ocean, and that’s a really cool experience,
because everybody else there is at the ocean and you’ve arrived via kayak. Then the end
of my perfect day I probably have friends over for dinner, and if I’m grilling I’m
probably making baby back ribs, corn, my own coleslaw and probably doing fresh mozzarella,
tomatoes. The warm mozzarella that you get at the farm and it has never been cooled yet,
the farm fresh tomatoes on grove bread, rubbed with a little glove of garlic. That’s my
perfect day.
