That's what this facility is about.
It represents partnerships and learning,
and it is a place where that partnership
is illustrated and carried out.
So it is very exciting for us,
as I see the giant scissors out there by the door,
to cut the ribbon on this wonderful new facility.
It is a very exciting experience for me.
I started creating Curriculum Materials Library two years ago,
but today the library came alive.
Faculty members, from the School of Education,
from the School of Music, from the Library school, students from
all of these schools came here to celebrate partnerships,
and also to celebrate innovation and creativity.
What you see here is the present of education invested
from Rhode Island and by their creativity and innovation
the students just open the gates of the future
in learning and teaching in the state of Rhode Island.
This is the result of collaboration between
the School of Education, the School of Music,
the Library School, the URI Libraries, and also the community.
We received a very generous donation from Mr. Robert Schnare,
the husband of the late Mary K Schnare.
I am absolutely thrilled to be here.
Mary K was a big educational advocate;
loved the children, loved to tell stories.
To know that her collection would be used in the way
collaboration, community support,
it was described today is awesome, just absolutely awesome.
I know my daughter Kathy would also be very proud
that her mom's collection is here.
She grew up around it and was subject to it.
So I'm very thrilled that it's here.
It's wonderful that it's going to be used for such
an endeaver as the education curriculum library here.
This center for URI, for the state, is a wonderful resource,
a rich resource that has been
enhanced by Pearson and Mithlin,
which is wonderful that they gave donations.
The fact that you've got some grant money to make it.
You've got a beautiful collection of rich resources
that the education field, the library science field,
can utilize to teach their students and
have them evolve into learning professionals.
I think it's wonderful.
