Tootsie: He would come in, almost every morning on the way
to school he had to have him a soda water, a bag of chips,
a bar of candy, at that time when we started back
in '76 you could buy a pretty good bar of candy
for probably 10 cents then, 15 cents.
Snowman: Wasn't much.
I wasn't quite that old.
Tootsie: I go back to when we had an old country doctor here,
there was an old funeral home here,
well the cotton gins were here, the peanut mills.
Being in a small town, we still pretty well know everybody.
Snowman: There's customers today that have been doing business
with her for 20, 30, 40 years still
to this day they come in here.
Tootsie: When they walk up I know what they want.
I know what their order was.
Snowman: The first weekend they told us
that business will increase, well we opened up at 8
and probably 9 o'clock we were out.
Tootsie: A lot of locals were disgruntled
at first cuz they pulled up at 10 o'clock
and the line would be 80 people deep and it's taking a good year
to get them accustomed to calling
and placing their order during the week or coming around back
and seeing that, you know, we're gonna take care of them.
Snowman: You know it's a passion when its not a job.
And I told her we when we didn't enjoy it, we'd quit it.
Yeah, we're not to that point yet.
