[ music playing ] Helen: I have been dancing since I was two
years old, so I am at year 20. I originally started dancing when my mom dragged me to
a class, but throughout the years I fell in love with it. It became a huge passion of
mine and something I really enjoy, studying and learning about it. I can’t imagine a
day that I don’t dance. During my Junior Year here, my sister passed away and through
the course work that I’ve had as a dance major, dance competition and dance choreography
were two of the classes that I had to take. Through those classes, I created and found
movement to create a piece that dealt with the five stages of grief and the grieving
process. It really allowed me to process my emotions and begin to overcome some of the
hardships with her passing. In an ideal world, which will one day happen, fingers crossed,
I will be in an improvisational company doing mostly contact work and performing professional.
My name is Helen Brown and I’m from Acworth, Georgia and I’m graduation with a Bachelor’s
of Fine Arts in Dance. [ music playing ]
