Juan: First of all, you swipe in at the front desk
and you can come down after that to the climbing wall area
during climbing wall times, which can be found on the poster right here by the climbing wall itself right in front.
Bronson: Here we offer two types of climbing. One, is top roping, which usually does not get used.
Secondly, is bouldering. We spend most of our time doing, which is where you climb up only to a certain height
about your waist to the white line and we'll go into more detail
about what bouldering is here in a second.
As we were just talking about the tape,
here it is.
It shows us what level of difficulty each route is.
For example, the red tape shows beginner.
Yellow shows intermediate
and black is advanced.
All routes are going to start with a V-shaped tape
and they will also end with a V-shaped tape.
So that way you'll know where to start
and where to finish very easily.
Juan: First of all, you need loose-fitting clothes that are athletic,
but not too loose-fitting and as well as not too restrictive.
The other thing you need is closed-toe shoes.
An example would be a climbing shoe that we can have upstairs
you can rent for a $1.50 or your own climbing shoes that you can buy.
The other thing you need is chalk.
We provide chalk as well,
but you can bring your own chalk.
Any of your own equipment is more than welcomed here.
It just needs to be check through the climbing wall attendant.
Bronson: The climbing wall is open most afternoons and evenings during the week. You can find our operating schedule
on the Fitness and Recreation website by clicking on the "Hours" tab.
Anyone who has access to the Huston Huffman Fitness Center can use the wall.
Guest are allowed as well. They have to pay $5 to get in.
If you're new to climbing, we're here to help.
Just head over to the climbing wall any time the wall is open
and let the climbing wall attendant know you're ready to learn.
The staff member will tell you about the types of climbing we have,
give you some advice, and help you start climbing.
Please pay attention to the wall's safety policy and listen to instructions given by staff.
We want you to have a great time without putting yourself
or others in danger.
