Well, now we are doing our final inspection, and I've noticed that a valve is sticking
down here. Even though it's oiled, it's having some trouble, and I can only think that it's
something to do with the spring. So, I notice that this is a little loose, let's see if
that helps it. No. Final inspection, we'll have to undo this; troubleshoot a little bit,
see if it is the spring.
Ah ha, why don't we try the spring that way? That seems like it's going to work. I think
the spring was upside down. If there is something not working, it's usually a very simple little
fix. There are more complex fixes, unfortunately, with these instruments, and the complex fixes are saying, if you have
a frozen valve. One time I was playing in Durango, Colorado, and it was ten below zero
outside, and I took a fresh trumpet that was full of water... Let's see if this works,
ah ha, something in the valve, something in the way she moves me. Well let's see if we
can put air through it first, and then we can rectify the problem. Ah ha, a valve is
in incorrectly. So we'll have to find which valve is incorrect. This is what troubleshooting
and inspection is all about.
