Civility.
Civility.
I was saved in prison. I was saved in prison.
I could see the darkness and all the lies that bring people down.
But the truth is what has brought me here.
And real love has brought me here, and I'm here with the great spirit.
The spirit of love, for everybody just to know that
there is hope in everyone and in all of us.
To me, civility means respect for other people,
from other backgrounds, I guess, respecting their character,
who they they are, where they come from.
Loving people, having empathy and just being a good person.
Civility means treating others how you want to be treated,
treating them with respect.
And basically caring for others, even though you might not know them
or know where they're coming from.
Civility is going the extra mile just to put others before yourself,
and really just taking people's feelings and stuff into consideration.
You know, it's treating everyone equally
and that's what Cal State University San Marcos is all about.
No matter what gender, race.
Everybody should be treated equally here.
And that's what I think civility is all about.
I think Cal State San Marcos does a really good job of showing diversity.
I just see random acts of kindness all over the place
and this life is all about compassion and love,
and that's really cool.
To me to civility is being able to be open and honest with people
in any situation without putting the blame on anyone specific.
I think it's the value that people's lifestyle,
for a lot of people, going about your ways to reach out
and change a different perspective of what people are living up to right now in society
and being able to treat people right, you know, and influencing others
to also act on those kind of values.
It's definitely a movement, and I'm pretty proud to be part of it.
It's about acknowledging the beauty that's within a particular person,
and acknowledging that through what they do,
what their behavior is.
And it's important to share that.
It's important to show kindness and respect and compassion,
because really, that's what this whole world is about.
And how to make the world a better place is to act civilly,
from an authentic genuine place within your heart.
And it just warms my heart and I feel really blessed
to work here and to be a part of the civility campaign.
