Living Arrangements with Nico de Swert Pottery Barn
Hi I'm Nico de Swert, I'm a floral designer and interior stylist
I'm gonna show you some easy floral arrangements
they're going to blow your guests away and are gonna make you look like a professional florist.
we have a very easy arrangement today.
i'm going to start with these
beautiful simple white carnations
that's one of the key ingredients and another ingredient is this dusty miller this beautiful
silver leaf
okay and the first thing I'm going to do is take my carnations
It's one of my favorite flowers
it's a very strong flower and it's really on its way back up to becoming more popular
as you can see just putting flower next to flower
stem next to stem
and twist your bouquet around
just very simple until you have a tiny little
white pompom
just like that
and then we're going to tape this
with the white floral tape
it's waterproof floral tape that you can buy from your florist or from your wholesaler
we just going to tie
our bouquet with the tape on the top
see if every thing's still in its perfect
spot and finish it dusty miller which is a very strong resilient green
you can find pretty much year-round, I'm just going to
put that around the carnations just like as a cuff
almost
just very simple like that, get another piece of tape
just taping that and then we're going to take our vase it's a very square,
a very simple vase from pottery barn
uh it's from the square collection it's about three inches by three inches
by ten inches high
and we're going to take our bouquet and basically just measure it
so that we're going to cut it
just at the bottom says it's fits a certain length
so basically that your flower arrangement just fits into your vase just like that and
supports the neck
and then we're going to finish this off
we have this metal wire
it's aluminum wire, it's very supple
it's very easy to bend we're going to just wrap this around so that just basically we're hiding
the tape
that we put on there first, so that's what we're going to do
and then to finish this off on the bottom as well with another piece just like that
and again it's very easy to do it's very supple just
wrap it around there
so we have basically it on the top and on the bottom
and then you have a tiny little bouquet its called a tussy mussy or a brussels bouquet as we call it in europe.
and then one more little step to finish this up which is with
two different pieces of ribbon
we're gonna tie this just above
the medal wire with just a simple knot
just quickly like that
just like that very simple
and then we take a second piece of ribbon just for another texture we have a solid one
and transparent one just to create a little bit of texture
we're gonna do the same thing, just tie it around the top of the bouquet, tie it once and tie it twice
and then we have our bouquet
now we're gonna just do this and put it in the vase just very simple like that
you might say now this is really simple
and that's the strength of this arrangement we're gonna multiply it on our mantle because it's
going to be a mantlepiece
and the strength of this arrangement is really gonna be a repetition
look how beautiful this is look how dazzling just because of the repetition
you take a very simple bouquet
and repeat it a couple of times
and it becomes a wild statement
