Now I want to make one more point about practicing. There's a big difference between practicing
on your own and practicing with a band or with a group. When you're on your own it is
all about you and you concentrate on yourself and you go as hard or as you know, soft as
you want to in order to get yourself better. But when you're with a band it's all about
having a common goal. So it's more important that the band is staying together, than that
you're achieving all the things that you wanted to achieve in practice. I found also that
you can't just sort of expect them to know all their stuff. Somebody is not going to
come through and they're going to not have had time to practice on their own or something
like that, and so you’re going to have to learn patience and you're going to have to
learn flexibility. When you're practicing with a band or with a group it is more important
that you be united then that you're getting all the stuff done exactly the way you want
it. If you're smart, if you pay attention when group practices are happening, there
are things will happen that you won't expect. And in those times if you allow them to run
your course, you'll often find the creation of new material that you would have never
gotten to on your own. Bands are a magical thing, groups are a magical thing and if you
will take your *** hands off the reigns of control and open them up and let them go,
suddenly you'll find that everybody is contributing and now all of you are pursuing one dream
together that's bigger than any of you could of dreamed of in the first place.
