In this section, we'll cover financial aid.
At this point, you should have already submitted your FAFSA. If you have not, you may have missed the priority deadline for financial aid. Please check the Financial Aid website for more information.
If you have submitted your FAFSA, you should be monitoring your WebRunner account and submitting any other requested documents.
Financial aid is awarded during the third week of the term. It is based on the number of credits you are enrolled in on the Sunday prior to the start of the third week.
There are different types of financial aid. Pell Grants provide financial assistance to eligible part-time and full-time students based on your expected family contribution or EFC.
Taking full-time course work of twelve credits or more will maximize your Pell eligibility. Many eligible students can receive a Pell Grant for any enrollment level.
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is a limited grant fund for students who meet the eligibility criteria of exceptional need.
You must be Pell-eligible and enrolled for at least six credit hours.
The Direct Subsidized Loan is a need-based student loan program designed to assist students with their educational expenses during a period of enrollment in an eligible program of study.
The interest is subsidized--or paid--by the government for the student while the student is enrolled at least half-time.
The interest is also paid for the student six months after the completion date or last date of attendance.
You must be enrolled for at least six credit hours for a loan.
The Unsubsidized Student Loan can be need-based or non need-based. Interest accumulates from the time the loan is granted. You can pay the interest while you are in school or have it added to your loan amount.
You must be enrolled in at least six credit hours for this type of loan.
Federal Work Study provides jobs for students who demonstrate financial need. Eligible students will usually work on campus. You must be enrolled for at least six credit hours for Work Study.
The Oregon Student Assistance Commission will consider undergraduate students who are Oregon residents for Oregon Opportunity Grants.
You may receive up to twelve terms of these grants. Early filing of the FAFSA is strongly advised. To be eligible for this grant, you cannot be in default or owe money on Title 4 aid at any institution.
You must be enrolled for at least six credit hours for this as well.
To maintain financial aid eligibility, you're required to complete your courses and earn grades that lead towards graduation.
For a detailed description, you can read the details on the Financial Aid website.
You can receive aid for up to 150% of the time it normally takes to earn a degree.
An example would be that if a typical degree requires 90 credits, then you can receive aid for up to 135 credits.
You are responsible for monitoring your completion rate and grade point average.
You will reapply every year for financial aid. If you can, you should apply as soon as possible after January 1st.
If any of your personal information changes, you should notify Financial Aid in paper.
