Hey, Don Willard here from Advanced Carpet Cleaning in Bel Air, Maryland your Bel Air
carpet cleaning professionals. What a beautiful Fall day, Fall-like day, it's not quite officially
Fall but it sure feels like Fall today. Temperature in the mid 70's, low humidity, a nice slight
breeze, perfect day for carpet cleaning! I just finished an appointment and we were opening
the windows and it reminded me, one of the most frequently asked questions that we are
asked by our clients is, "How long does it take my carpet to dry?"
Carpet drying time is variable due to a number of factors related to, and it always amazes
people but one of the main factors is the weather outside. Even if your windows are
closed it's really affected by the weather outside. A day like today when the humidity
is low, moderate temperatures and you can open the windows, the carpet can dry in as
little as an hour. You get a humid day, particularly a rainy day with temperatures in the say,
mid 70's when it's too cool to put the air conditioning on, too warm to put the heat
on, your drying time can be significantly longer because the air is saturated, or close
to saturated and it can't hold much moisture. Carpet has to dry through evaporation, just
as anything else does. So, it's really dependent a lot upon the weather
outside. A beautiful day like today your carpet will dry quicker. Some of the things that
I recommend that clients do to decrease drying time are; one of the main things is obviously
if you can open your windows on a day like today. But if that's not practical, or if
you don't have screens, or for whatever reason you choose not to, one thing that you can
do is utilize the air system within your home. And that is by turning the fan switch on,
on your thermostat. The fan switch just makes the fan run on the unit, it doesn't actually
make the heat or air conditioning run any more, though it will sound like it. But it
will actually just circulate the air because the air has to move. It requires air flow,
air movement to cut the drying time. So that's one little tip that can really help. In the
Winter time I always recommend if the home has a humidifier to turn the humidifier off.
We don't want to put anymore humidity in the air when the carpet will put the humidity
into the air, and by turning the humidifier off that will also significantly decrease
the drying time. So that's just a few tips that can help cut the drying time when your
carpet is cleaned professionally. So, just wanted to shoot this quick video
and discuss that with you. Thank you for watching! Don Willard from Advanced Carpet Cleaning,
your Bel Air carpet cleaning professionals where we clean it like we mean it! Have a
great day, thanks again!
