I can say without a doubt that the most important lesson I've learned in my life thus far is
to be yourself. It's the same thing we've been told since we were little, but it takes
some living before you actually grasp what it truly means. I didn't learn it from a book,
or in church, or at school, or even at home. It just dawns on you. Each and every one of
us is beautiful, fearfully and wonderfully made. Be yourself. Don't change for anyone,
or anything. If you like who you are, nothing else matters. Not what other people think,
not what other people say. It's a fact that not everyone in the world is going to like
you. But I can say with confidence that there are those out there who will love you for
who you are, no matter what. Those are the people who will stay with you, hopefully for
forever. People will judge, no matter who you are. Whether you're a pastor's kid, a
nerd, an athlete, an artist, an activist, a celebrity, a nobody, a musician, a technician,
a comedian, a writer. Whatever. Someone is going to judge. But if you're happy, at least
you're being judged for the best part of you: YOU. At the end of the day, it's all about
loving those around you and being the best YOU that YOU can be. Be yourself, and the
world gets that much more beautiful.
