- Hey guys, so this is just a bonus video this week,
you'll still get your regular Saturday video
but the reason I'm making this is because
I just hit a million subscribers on this channel.
Like, even as I say that,
it sounds so unreal to me like...
I've been doing this for four years.
And when I first started doing this,
all that I wanted to do was just entertain you guys.
And I just wanted to make things that would
make people smile.
And four years later, I'm that exact same guy.
The only difference is that now I've got
a million subscribers.
And just the fact that there's a million of you out there
that have chosen to click that subscribe button
and want to watch me is
it's such a humbling feeling.
And it's exciting and it's a little weird
because honestly I never thought I'd get to this point.
But here we are.
And I just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much.
I don't know what to say.
I thought I would be prepared for this moment,
but now that it's happened, I'm really not.
I'm sort of flabbergasted, I'm sort of
at a loss for words.
And all I can really think to say is
thank you to all of you,
I wish I could thank you individually,
obviously I can't, but your continued support
means the world to me and I just wanted to say
that you guys are fantastic, you are all amazing,
and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Now, that being said, I do have something very special
planned for you guys.
I gave a lot of thought as to what I should do
for my one million subscriber milestone.
I wanted to do something special, I thought of
a lot of different things, but then I remembered
that there's a bit of a tradition on Youtube.
Where if someone hits a million subscribers
they are supposed to embarrass themselves.
So I decided that, you know,
some people do a challenge like some people do
the cinnamon challenge or some other sort of thing,
and I decided that I'm not gonna do a challenge but
I am going to embarrass myself.
And how I'm going to embarrass myself is
I'm going to show you my very first video.
Now you might be saying,
"Oh but Matt, we've seen your very first video!
"It's Text the Pope, it's right there on your channel!"
Well, that's just my first video on this channel.
This isn't my first channel, I actually had another
channel that I made when I first started
on Youtube and there's no videos of myself on it,
it was just kind of a collection channel
that I used to upload like random footage that I took
and I basically just used it to subscribe and watch
some big vloggers that I found back in 2010.
And as I was watching these people,
I remember thinking, I could totally do that.
I think I have it within me to do what these
people are doing, it looks like they're just
doing it from their homes.
So I decided I wanted to do that.
So what I did was I downloaded a video editing program
called Sony Vegas Pro, which is the same program
I still use today.
Using that program, I created what I guess you could call
a pilot episode of what would become my main channel.
And it was a video that I made to basically announce
to my friends and family, because those were the only ones
that really were going to watch me at the time,
because no one knew who I was,
and I made this episode to announce my new channel to them.
So, I decided as a little thank you to you guys
for helping me reach this massive milestone
that I would show you this video.
And, oh God is it bad.
Now, before I show this to you, there's a few things
you need to know in order to put this video into context.
The first thing is that the editing is beyond terrible.
Like, there's no white balance, it's all over the place,
it's just, I had just gotten Sony Vegas Pro, I had
no idea how to edit video, the editing is terrible.
The second thing that you need to know is that
in this video I mention the seven people that
influenced me to start making videos on Youtube.
Now, at the time, back in 2010, these people were some of
the most popular people on Youtube.
And that's why they influenced me, because there
wasn't as many people on youtube there were big
back then as there are today.
The third and final thing that you need to know
is that my biggest influence at the time was
Ray William Johnson and his show Equals 3.
Which he actually just recently stopped making,
but you're going to see a lot of influence
of the early days of Equals 3 in this video.
So that's just something to keep in mind.
So, here it is, my very first attempt at a video.
And this is the original untouched version of
my very first video that I ever made
of myself on camera, oh God this is gonna be embarrassing.
The video was called I Can Has Video Editing Program?
And I really hope you guys enjoy it, again,
thank you so much for one million subscribers
your support means the absolute world to me.
So, without further ado, here it is.
Enjoy.
This is gonna be embarrassing.
(projector rolling)
What's hap?
I just farted.
What's happening?
I got some big news.
I got a video editing program.
Dude, how the (bleep) is that big news?
Well that's big news for me, because
I can do all kinds of cool stuff now.
Like cut all over the place like this.
But I can do all kinds of other really cool stuff, too.
- [Clone] Can I be in the video?
- [Matt] No, beat it clone.
That's Hugo, you'll see him from time to time.
So, I'm actually starting a new channel
I'll put the link right here.
And you'll actually get to be a part of it.
I'll pick a random question at the end of each show
and include it in the video and then in the next video
I will pick the five top answers.
Why did I just speak so slow?
Whatever the funniest are, the most creative.
And the first show will be up
And the first show will be up soon,
I don't really know when,
so for the next video, upload your question
to this video down here.
And I'll include one person's video question
in the next video and then ya'll can answer it
and then we'll go to the next video.
Now, the reason I started doing this,
actually, was because of five main people.
Philip Defranco, Wheezywaiter, Julian Smith,
Mystery Guitar Man, Meekakitty,
and of course, one of the most popular
on Youtube that actually got me started
watching all this vlogging crap, Ray William Johnson.
And you can click on any of their faces
and of course this video will be a link to their
channels.
So that''s it!
Thanks for watching my very first video.
I hope to see lots of interesting video questions
for my next video.
And just so you know, I'm not the type of guy
that's gonna ask you to subscribe to my channel,
because I'm the type of guy that needs all these
subscribers.
- [Clone] Subscribe to my channel.
- [Matt] Shut up!
Sorry.
Off.
(upbeat music)
That was a terrible intro.
