My name’s Howard Tipton.
I’m the Brevard County manager
for Brevard County here in
Florida. Myself and my
team are here at the
National Hurricane Conference for
a busy week of education,
of networking and of preparation
and taking all of that
back to our community here
as we get ready for
what we’re sure to be
an exciting season. For
this week some of the things
I’m looking forward to is
one understanding the forecasting
changes. I want to make
sure we understand the changes
to with FEMA and the
relationships there. We want
to make sure we’re just
integrated with all of the
things that are going on
because we know storm
preparation and recovery is an
integrated effort. Nobody stands
alone. We’re all in this together.
One of the interesting things
is the changing technology and
the forecasts and their ability
to forecast. We rely on
that so heavily that as we
get up to the new
technologies we want to
make sure we pass
along the residents the most
accurate information and we
understand that it’s not perfect
but it gets better every year
from cities and counties to
national hurricane center, FEMA,
state representatives. They’re
all here and it’s a great
opportunity to not only network
but make sure that the
information shared we’re all on
the same page.
