Hello Ken!
Here is a NCAA softball ball.
You asked me about my background.
Fine with me.
I grew up in New Jersey.
I then moved to South Florida.
Almost four years ago.
Reason? A Softball Network is fantastic.
All year round, better than in New Jerey!
Right?
I feel so proud to became
the first deaf umpire to work
FHSAA State Series Finals.
Feel so enthaiastic and self-esteem and think
a softball legend is important to me.
I have a few goals left to go like
three or four checklist
Number one - Work NCAA Div I
Bigger Universities - awesome
Number two - Have yet worked ASA National Championship
I have been umpired for 23 years.
Still waiting since then.
Number three - Women Pro Softball
I love fast-pitch.
Number four - Galladuet University Div III
Women Softball team
Would be nice and cool if I go umpire there.
I am a Div II Umpire.
Wait and see what happens.
Right now, what I want to do is
go deaf schools or mainstreamed schools
where deaf students regardless from
kindergarten to high school so,
I would encourage to tell them
to stay in school and finish their education
then you will have challenges in life
like me and I am willing to
to take risks and challenges so,
I prove them that I have my
my abilities. You know.
Know what? I did write three-four pages
and sent to NFHS -
National Federation of High School Assocations
have a quarterly publcation published
about sports officials
a variety of sports like swimming, football,
soccer, basketball, etc.
How to appoach a deaf official in a
a regulation game such as how
how to communicate, open minded, patience
where there is no interpreter in the game.
Think it must be a huge challenge
Good for them to read and understand
how to approach a deaf official like myself.
Also, I gave ASL performances / stories
about deaf umpire stories, ABC stories, etc.
If interested, feel free to contact me anytime.
Many thanks, Ken, for having me.
