We are going to talk about commands or requests that you give your dog. When you are working
with especially your family it is very important not only do you say the command one time but
after that to use the same with everyone in the family. If sit means sit it needs to be
with everyone, not Sadie sit down or anything else other than just sit. It is not fair to
the dog because they don't generalize well so if you are saying come here or get down
from the couch it is going to be different then down with hand signals so you want to
make sure that if it is off the couch, tell them off, you should have something on your
refrigerator, a list of words that you are going to choose to use so that everyone in
the family can be on the same page. You are going to see less confusion from your dog
and you are going to see all of the family get involved in training the dog and when
you are seeing better results you are going to get that enthusiasm going. Once I have
a command like come I am going to use enthusiasm afterwards to back it up but never say the
command again.
