I am Paul Burns from Porcelain Tub Restorations
Here will be looking at a failed bathtub liner installation
The bathtub has water underneath it
You can see the water coming up the caulk line there.
Makes the liner feel very spoungy
were going to need to remove his liner
it's a cheap PVC Vinyl liner as well
The best product is a acrylic capped ABS
ABS product gives you the best strength durability and shine
Here we will pull the hardware
drain overflow and as we pull the drain you can see the water start pouring out
It's important to be sure the
plumbing is up tight against the tubs bottom so water doesn't
flood down below
water stagnated and doesn't smell very good not very sanitary condition
Were going to fix this problem.
Now were going to remove the caulking from the perimeter of the tub.
Once we get that removed and cleaned up.
we'll be able to break the seal.
And we're going to get this bad boy out of here.
Now we hook into the back side and lift it up.
This liners if they are installed correctly are not this easy to remove.
Lets take a look at why it failed.
I see no silicone adhesive on the
tub skirt,
I see none on the tub rail of the sides of the tub
I see no butyl primer on the back of the tub liner it would be black
that allows the butyl tape to black butyl tape to stick I see none on the tub
so this is missing several components
for good quality install this was done by a
knucklehead that's missing all the key factors
no butyl primer
and no adhesive silicone caulk thank you for watching this is Paul
