Getting started, it's best to call your insurance company and determine if you have the benefits
for bariatric surgery with your current plan. After you have decided you are ready to start
and are aware of your insurance benefits, we recommend seeing all of the four disciplines
within the department. These appointments should include an evaluation by a dietitian,
exercise physiologist, psychologist and medical provider, which may be either a nurse practitioner
or physician, who specializes in bariatric medicine in the department. There is an affordable
bariatric package fee that covers the support services of the program, this is a lifetime
fee. We recommend monthly follow-up appointments within the department to help achieve both
insurance requirements and medical requirements for clearance for the procedure.
Once insurance and medical requirements for surgery are met, patients are referred to
meet with their surgeon who will assess their individual health background and the preparation
for surgery will be undertaken. There is a general overview of the process that starts
with calling your insurance to ensure your benefit, then scheduling your team assessment
with all four specialist groups in the department following monthly to achieve readiness to
meet the surgeon and schedule the procedure. The time frame to get to surgery varies from
person to person often driven by insurance requirements. Getting to surgery may take
as little as a couple of weeks or up to 6 or 12 months again depending on your insurance
requirements. The strengths of our hospital program include
our experienced qualified surgeons who work in conjunction with programs diverse array

than 98% of our surgeries are performed laparoscopically. Our overall complication and death rates are

to help you as well.
