jbjb1 (Music) (Luke) I remember how excited I felt when I first got my own library card.
I felt so grown up; I couldn t wait to put it in my wallet. I went every week, sometimes
twice, to get picture books and movies. And whenever we went away on vacation, we went
to the library to get audio books, like Eragon and The Black Stallion. The first thing we
did when we moved to NH was get a new library card. Libraries are so important to me, there
is no question that it s important. But I started wondering what other people thought.
Luckily, my school librarian, Ms. Tirone, was kind enough to share her thoughts on film.
(Ms. Tirone) I remember I was really lucky to have a library that I could go to by walking
or riding a bus. A lot of times my dad who liked to read long historical novels would
like to go, and we would check out books. While he was busy making his selection, the
librarian would kind of point me in the direction of some other places, and eventually I learned
that there were lots of shelves with different things and I didn t need anybody to point
them out. I had a lot of curiosity and it was a great place to linger. When I was a
very little girl there was this Doctor Seuss character and I found the new version of Gerald
McBoing Boing which literally was the first book I can remember reading. And, so it s
such a popular book, it s been reissued in a newer copy. (Luke) I must ve read The Very
Hungry Caterpillar 100 times. It s my favorite picture book. (Paul) My first favorite picture
book was A Fly Went By, by Mike McClintock and I still have it. (Devin) I remember reading
The Lorax over and over again. It was my first favorite picture book. (Caden) Out of all
the picture books, I think Click, Clack, Moo is my favorite. (Ms. Tirone) Because I work
as a public school librarian, I get to work with people of different ages. I work with
kids and adults and I love the variety and I love the various ways I can help people.
When I consider moving to different communities with my own family and my own young kids,
it was always the place that we would go to first to learn about the community because
libraries are great for sharing information from all different places. So, it s jus really
filled a lot of our family needs. It fills MY needs and it keeps my curiosity constantly
ready to learn something new I love being in the library. (Luke s voice) I love being
in libraries too. How about YOU? (Music) :pyR (Music) Deron Triff Normal Deron Triff Microsoft
