>> So many times, all the technological systems and the protection we can buy and spend a lot
of money on and it's a simple human error.
Somebody -- it can be as simple as somebody opening the wrong e-mail
and it can be a fishing attack and all of the sudden you've given your credentials away.
>> Without getting too scary, there really are basic simple things people can do
to protect themselves.
And that's sometimes missed.
Often times we do get wrapped up into the oh dear, cyberspace or the internet is
so dangerous, I think I'll just unplug and go farm for the rest
of my life and not even touch this.
But, it turns out there really are a lot of very simple things that anybody can do
to reasonably protect themselves, much like in the real world when we step outside
on the sidewalk, there are certain things you do to protect yourself.
And we've learned that as humans and as part of society.
I think that's the piece that we're hunting for with cyberspace, are what are those basic things
that individuals can do because you're always going to have threats.
You're always going to have attackers.
You'll always have offense versus defense.
You'll always have thinkers thinking about what's the next play.
But as individuals, there are things you can do
to protect yourself individually that are fairly straightforward.
And that, again, going back to UMUC, I think that's one of the areas where we're going
to see a lot of excellence because that kind of mindset can be taught to thousands of students
and can be replayed over and over in their organizations, their families,
their lives, that this is not a mystery.
