Well, the Dão it's one of the
oldest wine regions in Portugal
It's in the center north of Portugal
it's a region that sometimes we say
the Dão has some relation with
Burgundy in France.
It is for me one of the best wine
producing areas in Portugal
because the Dão has in terms of landscape
it's very unique, it has a lot
of this presence of the forest.
All the vineyards in the Dão
usually are smaller vineyards, we don't have
the properties are small usually in the Dão and all the vineyards are
completely surrounded by the forests. We have also a lot of small
rivers, and in the landscape it's like
small hills and small valleys.
This thing of being completely surrounded
by the forest for me it makes
it gives a lot of hearty
element in the wines and
and also we have the presences of the granite.
In the Dão the soil is granitic
and gives also a lot of minerality in the wine.
And there is a beautiful thing also in the Dão
...
we have to to look for the vineyards because it is not like other regions
when we go and we
see the vineyards everywhere. In the Dão we have to look for the vineyards
kind of magical because we have to find the vineyards
in the middle of the forest
it's quite interesting. And in the Dão we have one thing that is very
important for the
wines and that is the natural acidity. It is one of region's in Portugal where
we have more acidity in the wines and this is very very good
for the quality of the wines
and we have wineswith a lot of longevity
