>> Announcer: Newswatch, with Marianne Zadra and Brian Parker.
>> Marianne: Good evening.
Ottawa police are looking for an AIDS carrier who is said to have donated blood
to the Red Cross, even though he knew he was an AIDS carrier.
Police also say the Vanier man, who is a homosexual,
may have deliberately infected others with the disease through *** activity.
A Red Cross spokesman in Ottawa says the infected blood was detected immediately
after it was donated last October.
Ottawa Police superintendant John McCombie says charges are possible under the mischief
section of the Criminal Code. But the Crown Attorney says that's on hold.
>> Most of the information about this case is second hand and they're allegations only.
And before any kind of decision is given or any kind of advice is given,
what we need are facts.
>> Marianne: The jury in the fraud trial of Andre Bisonette and an associate has finished
it's first day of deliberations with no verdict. The former Mulroney cabinet minister and Normand
Ouelette deny using inside information to profit from a land deal.
We'll have more news later tonight. Next, Brian has sports.

>> Brian: Canada played their final game of the preliminary round this afternoon, kind
of a disappointment, they finished up in a 2-2 tie against Sweden, so Canada finishes
up in third place in the 'A' pool. They will go on to the medal rounds, but they
will carry over only 1 point. The Soviets will lead overall
with a total of 4. Also today, Finland advanced to the medal
round, in fact they finish first place in the 'A' pool.
They had a 5-1 win today over Poland. Karen Percy picked up her second bronze metal
today, this in the Women's super giant slalom. Sigrid Wolf of Austria took the gold medal,
finishing up in first place. Michela Figini of Switzerland finished up
in second place. Two-man bobsled competition postponed today
again because of the high winds, and so was the 90-metre ski jumping.
Coming up in the NHL tonight, just one game, Toronto playing in Minnesota.
We'll have more later, the weather is next.
