As farmers, we have to be proud.
We bought a truck
and we started to do well. We had a lot of success.
After a little while, we decided to sell the trucks
and start farming.
Rodrigo: The most significant part about our story in agriculture
is when we decided to implement no-till practices into our operation.
Although it’s a solid practice now, it’s still improving.
It's becoming more sophisticated. No-till is a practice that is here to stay. It revolutionized our operation
and has enabled all of our activities.
I am a pioneer in no-till planting here... Our family
is a pioneer in no-till planting.
We went to Ponta Grossa and stayed with Nono’s family for 8 days.
We learned a lot from him.
Rodrigo: Then came the genetically modified crops.
They changed our operation a lot. It was like a strong wave of genetics.
They were closely associated with the precison work that my brother is doing.
With precision agriculture, the big moment, at least for me
was the launching of
30F53 and 30R50. They brought the corn yields to another level.
Their impact was much higher and stronger, much stronger,
than anything we had ever seen before.
Diego: It's the same feelings that we have now with the launch of P1630.
Rodrigo: It's like it's a completely different material.
Things like that are what involve you; what make you search for more.
When you know that you are working with a hybrid that has potential to offer even more.
You work with a series of tools that focus on
increasing yield. When you are able to achieve your desired results
it is not the monetary value that makes you happy,
but the results of the crop that gives you pleasure.
Carlos: We farm because we enjoy it.
Rodrigo: It represents all of our hard work.
It’s our history… it’s our lives.
One thing that I always say is that we have to change what we have.
You have to keep evolving.
Carlos: I’m very proud to see them… the high corn yields.
I didn’t believe the yields when I saw them.
I used to see 50, 60 bags per hectare.
Today, you talk about 210, 220 bags, but you have a machine
that is showing you 230, 240 bags per hectare. That’s a lot of corn.
We didn’t believe the yields, but they’re the reality of what’s in the field.
Rodrigo: What really matters are the people, the people make the difference.
With Pioneer, we work with and meet people who are real partners.
Partners that don’t just look at the monetary value of the business.
They care more about their people than they do about the monetary values they can gain or lose.
Respect and high ethical values are things that are going to remain with us for the rest of our lives.
If someone can be as decent and ethical as my father was,
they are going to remain in your memory forever. You will learn that
those are the people that are remembered when they are not here anymore.
Carlos: To the entire Pioneer team, I learned with you… I learned a lot.
I was a simple truck driver, I was nothing.
I think that Pioneer is part of my family.
