today the Supreme Court is hearing the case involving a intellectually disabled
man by the name of Freddie
Lee Hall he is said to be executed in the state of Florida
however there are some protest about his execution
because they feel that as mentally challenged man he should not be
facing the death penalty now in at the late nineteen seventies I he murdered a
21-year-old a woman who is pregnant she was seven months pregnant
he was convicted and he should be behind bars
but IQ test indicate that he is
intellectually disabled in fact he took to IQ test
wanna that he scored a 71 the second one he scored
a sixty now in a state of Florida if you are past
the seventy mark passed that threshold. you are considered
smart enough to face the death penalty but
again he took two different IQ test one of them said he was sixty
and another thing to him into into consideration
is that there's a marginal air that's about five points
in a day so it could be. 66
it could be little or the not you you don't know because that margin a bear
so I'm torn on this for a couple reasons right button
for salt to be clear there's no question that he should get the death penalty
be a death penalty shouldn't exist anymore because whether it's him or not
him
and in this case whether he's innocent or guilty I'm
we do know that we've got people on death row or innocent
we know that because the Innocence Project where they've left the
found out dozens of people that were on death row that we were positive were
guilty
and we were set to execute were innocent so what we're not entirely sure we
shouldn't kill them so
up but if you have the death penalty in it worked great
any you were convinced this guy at absolutely 100 percent
had he had done what those crimes then I'm gonna be a bad guy and say they are
not overly persuaded by this argument right
if it's a mentally challenged person who was no idea in the world
what's happening around them in its like you know by cake
a situation like Lenny in mice and men any breaks anachronism realize a broken
neck you don't you know
it's a this guy I'm but along with this
her the person who do the crime with him rate to seven
year seven months pregnant woman and *** brutally
and then when a cop came investigate they were able to disarm the cop
and then killed a cop yes okay if you guys the full details and what he did
and why he was convicted
so I he and an accomplice we're looking to do a robbery so they needed a car in
order to do that robbery
they saw was 21-year-old pregnant woman coming out at a convenience store they
followed her
they up forced her into the car and they drove to a wooded area
where he *** her and then I'm he
shot her an instructor further into the forest where she
were authorities later found her body there there's a lot of planning going on
for someone who's intellectually disabled yeah and it's important to
mention these details because I'm a little split on whether or not he's
considered
intellectually disabled as well because after that he and his accomplice went to
a convenience store
and the cork there thought they were really questionable so we call the
authorities to come investigate
a cop showed up and they were able to successfully disarmed the CAW
and then shoot and kill him so he was convicted on two *** charges
up so and regardless of all the spots and regardless of what you think
about his intellectual capabilities
I still don't agree with the death penalty so he should serve life behind
bars regardless of what his intellectual abilities
in the supreme court ruled that a state cannot legally
execute someone if they are intellectually disabled
there was a little loophole there because they allow the state to
determine what is considered intellectually disabled
so the state of florida they decided on the 70-point IQ
I'm and that doesn't make sense so if they're all
against the state of Florida in this case it will set a precedent and I think
that's an important precedent because it'll close that loophole
Anderson so in and if they decide not to execute him because
over their standard that he's below the threshold I have no problem with that
in fact I don't want the death penalty for the reasons i stated earlier so it's
gonna be ok and remember it's not like you get the death penalty for your
released
you get life in prison so and that's pretty bad punishment I can live with
that
