JACQUELINE WOODSON: Hey.
I'm Jacqueline Woodson and I'm an author.
When I was in fifth grade, I wrote poem about
Martin Luther King.
Black brothers, black sisters, all of them were great.
No fear, no fright, but a willingness to fight.
He fought for me.
He fought for you.
He fought for our rights and his dream came true.
And my teacher said, this is really good, Jacqueline.
That set me on my path.
I started writing everywhere I could.
On paper bags.
On my shoes.
In my notebooks.
And today, I'm still writing stories about my family, about
dogs, about kids, about best friends.
I write a lot.
And I just can't seem to stop.
What are you writing about?
