Hi, I'm Patti Wallenfang with Duck brand duct tape and Leisure Arts.
I'm here today to show you some really cool jewelry projects
from the book "Just Duct Tape It!"
Some of the things we're going to be making today
are some cuff bracelets with lots of blingy stuff
and a bracelet that I call "twist on the wrist,"
which is a pretty cool thing too.
The book "Just Duct Tape It!" is by Duck brand duct tape and Leisure Arts.
And if you want more information on how to get the book,
follow the directions below to get one for you.
Let's get started.
I'm going to show you some of the things that you're going to need
or you might want to use to make some of these jewelry pieces.
Over here we have all kinds of bling.
These are some little buckles, and I'll show you a few minutes
how I'm going to use those.
Some stick on bling in strips, which is really fun.
And believe it or not, that really sticks well.
I have some hook and loop fastener tape, and now they make it in clear.
So when you put it on top of your tape, you don't even see it.
Some buttons.
Some chenille stems.
Lots of stick-on jewels to be creative with.
I call these "pony beads," metallic pony beads.
They have a large hole in the center.
And then some nicer beads too, and I'm gonna show you These are
for my twist-on-the-wrist bracelet.
So let's get started.
Let me show you the cuff bracelets first.
I've stuck on some bling.
And again, it's the hook and loop fastener that you put on there,
and you just put it around your wrist, which is really fun.
This one is a little bit different because I've used a covered button.
And I don't know if you're familiar with covered buttons,
but you can get them in packages in the sewing area of your store.
Let me show you how to make a covered button.
They come in pieces.
One is like the curvy side, and that's the top of the button.
And then the bottom, the shank part, is the part
that you use to attach to the garment or whatever your bracelet you're making.
So you take the curvy side-- that's the top
of the button-- put some tape on there.
Smooth it out with your finger.
Take your scissors, and just trim it down to kind of get the edges off
and make it round.
It doesn't have to be perfect.
Trim it down.
Get that extra tape off of there.
Now your button kit's gonna come with this little plastic, bendable, round
circle.
And you take the button, and you push it down in there.
Let me show you.
As you push that down in there, you see how
it pushes the tape around the button?
Then you pop it out.
It's a really fun thing to do.
I like doing these.
You pop it out, and you see it's covered the button for you.
And then you take your finger, press it down all the way around to the inside.
And then you put the bottom part of the button on there,
and it covers all those ends that are sticking out.
And you snap it in there.
You can see it snaps.
And then I attached it to the bracelet and put a little bling on there.
And you can personalize your bracelet any way you'd want to.
Now let me get to the twisty bracelet.
This bracelet is the "twist on the wrist," I call it.
And it's actually a pipe cleaner or chenille stem covered in duct tape.
So what I've done is I've taken one of the fuzzy chenille stems.
You take a piece of tape, and you cut it half the width of the tape.
Oops.
I got a little zebra print from my last project down there.
Lay it down and then you put your chenille stem onto the tape.
And then you just start to roll it.
And you just roll it.
You can see how I'm doing.
I'm pressing down, and it's sticking to that fuzzy part of the chenille stem.
And you just keep rolling it with your fingers.
But you can take the end of your covered chenille stem.
Twist the end, and then you just start sliding your beads on there.
And you can get creative and do all different colors.
Have fun with it.
All these projects are in the book "Just Duct Tape It!"
And there are other projects too that are really fun.
