Hi I'm Alison Deyette and I am going to style my man, suit up. I have my friend Brian Patrick
Flynn here who is a fabulous interior designer but didn't even own a suit! So I thought I'd
teach him and you fabulous guys to suit up. So here are a few tips. Button it up first
to test the fit and there is no need to throw a football in it, it should be well fit. All
you need is a hand shake or a little red carpet wave. It should feel a little snug because you want
it to outline your body. You always want it to be buttoned when you're standing because
you want a polished classic look. If you're seated un button one or two. Never shove your
hand in your pocket, just gently place it in, there should not be a bulge. You guys
already have that going on. Here is the other tip, you want a flat front for your suit and
pants. Pleats can sometimes cause you to fill out that spot and you look bigger than you
are. Don't fear prints and patterns, Brian loves working with color and so do I, so we
didn't want to go safe with the white button down shirt. You do want to keep in the same
tones of colors, mix the patterns but maintain the colors. We mix these similar blues and
greens but keep it in control. Next up is how to wear you suit as separates. You are
not going to wear a suit head to toe every day so now we show how to wear just the jacket.
So we took the pants away and kept the suit jacket. You can wear it with dark denim jeans
from you wardrobe and just add a pop of color on the top. Again we're doing a patterned
shirt and just a strong pop of color with the tie. I love this, the lavender looks great
with your skin tone. It kind of gives a bit of a tan. The fact that we match camel with
black is great because they would assume to use browns. Because we got black in the shirt,
we take it into the belt and dress shows. I like to show that with dark denim jeans
you can also wear black dress shoes.
I like how it looks, it's great for just kind of hanging out, it's not too formal
yeah, I don't think that a lot of guys don't realize that just adding a jacket can really
up their style quotient of all outfits. It's all about first impressions, in the first
three seconds people determine if they like you and want to work with you. So why not
make that first impression really strong and confident with a suit jacket but paired with
dark denim so it's not screaming
that you're looking for
a business interview.
