Hi! My name is Sarah, I’m at Petland in Pembroke Pines, Florida tonight and on behalf
of expertvillage.com, I’m going to speak with you a little bit about caring for mice.
As far as handling your mouse goes, you should always handle your mouse very gently. Mice
tend to be very dossal and very very rarely fight unless they feel threatened or trapped.
As far as picking your mouse up, you should basically put your hand down, let your mouse
walk on it, and then you can pick them up and handle them then. They do like to be petted,
they’ll sometimes play. They’re very social outgoing creatures, and they generally do
like to be handled. You just need make sure that you handle them in a gentle manner that
makes them feel safe. When you have your mouse out of your cage and you are handling it,
you should have it in an area where if your mouse happens to get away, that it can’t
get out and get under something that you can’t get it back from, such as a sofa or a refrigerator.
It’s a good idea to have sort of a mouse proof area that you can have your mouse out
in, because obviously these guys are small and can very easily get lost in a household.
