I'm fifth generation in construction. From the age of two all I’ve ever wanted to do is to build
exciting projects.
Lumus Construction is a general, mechanical, and electrical contractor. We specialized in historic
restoration
and government projects and in renewable energy.
In our experience the best way for us to research projects
and for our customers to research us is through the web. It allows us to have a much greater geographic
reach than we would have otherwise have.
When Lumus first started we really needed to get a graphic image of projects out
to our customers. They weren’t connecting to us by our verbal descriptions alone. They really
needed to actually see the kinds of projects that we're working on.
So, being on the web is very important to us. A picture of our office or a phone listing in the
phone book really doesn't tell anything about our business. In order to understand our business, a web site
is really the best tool because customers can see
and visualize the types of products and the complexity of the work that we do.
The best thing about using a web site to promote our business is it allows customers to, at their
own pace, really explore and get in-depth knowledge about the products and services that we are
able to offer
The feedback that we’ve gotten from our customers is that if we can handle these really complicated
projects that are shown on our website
then we can certainly handle the particular project they're interested in. A website is important
for a business because it's your online presence that's always open, that's always
accessible. It allows you to highlight products and services that you might offer
and it allows people to find you. You can put your address, you can put your phone number. In the future, our
website will not only talk about how much renewable energy we are building but we will actually quantify it.
We'll be able to take live data coming from all the wind turbines and solar panels that we’ve installed,
assimilate it, and be able to report on not only how much energy we are producing
but also what the environmental benefits are.
Being on the web has allowed us to be in places like Virginia and far northern corners of
Maine,
areas that we would never be able to do business in if we didn’t have a presence on the web.
