We’ve got the delta drawing emulation robot, actually what it does is you can draw something
on the tablet or with the mouse on the computer screen, and the robot will emulate or imitate
whatever you draw on the screen and it will draw it on the paper that’s underneath the
robot. It’s for a class, ECE 395. One of my buddies,
it was his idea to do the project, he’s really into robotics so we kind of jumped
on the idea of doing the delta robot. So this one, we give it an image file, and
we have to obviously change out the markers for different colors, but depending on the
algorithm we give it, this one it just draws lines until it hits a white space.
We just have some liquid nitrogen that we’ve been dipping marshmallows into. It’s really
cold and mimics the environment in space so it gives people an idea of how cold it actually
is between the earth and the moon. It’s about negative 300 degrees Fahrenheit. We
went to the basement of Everitt, and one of the shops down there has liquid nitrogen.
They form it by compressing air, because air is mostly nitrogen, to a certain point that
lowers the condensing point of the gas so then they can cool it normally.
What we have here today is a Van der Graaf generator. You get these really big sparks.
I think we get up to 900,000 volts. The electrical engineering side of it definitely came into
play a lot. Pretty much the power supply and the motors.
EOH is great, definitely come check it out.
