We had the privilege of working with the ASSET India Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to
fighting the global problem of sex trafficking. ASSET helps vulnerable youth gain long term
careers by building employment centers in rural India.
Let us share the story of Puja.
Puja's mother was a ***. When her mother had a client in the hut, the child sat outside
in the cold or hid under the bed. When her mother died, her uncle sold her to a doctor
who *** her daily. She escaped and fell into the hands of a trafficker. Puja was eventually
rescued and completed ASSET's training.
Puja graduated from college and is planning on earning an MBA.
ASSET provides opportunities to young women like Puja.
[CHANGE]
Sex trafficking is not just a problem in India; it is also a problem here.
Most women in prostitution want to leave the trade, but can't because they lack basic necessities.
Most were sexually abused as children.
[CHANGE]
Most entered the trade before the age of consent. By definition, they are victims of trafficking.
Those who have escaped sex trafficking say that what they need most is acceptance and
compassion from others.
Let us think about the problem of human trafficking.
