hey you guys and welcome to my first top-ten Tuesday vlog
This week's theme is
top-ten
book to movie adaptions
worst and best. I'm actually going to do
a top six
worst and best and divide them into
three top best, three top worst
because
uh...
I don't watch book to movie adaptions. I am
a very critical viewer as a film student
and
even more so as a book lover because
uh...
there is this image I found on FB that pretty much describes me.
so yeah,
that's me
so without further ado let's begin. I will start with my top three
favorite
book to movie adaptions
with the third
being the least favorite of the three and the first being my top favorite
book to movie adaption ever
in third place we've got the Harry Potter series
now I know a lot of people have
things to say against the movies
and I admit
I am not
the biggest fan of the last
four or three but I really enjoyed the movies. I loved seeing my favorite characters
coming to life
and the first two were so great. I mean I actually did a paper on them and I read
a scene in the book, and watched the scene in the movie, and they really really
stuck to the plot line and what they couldn't put in one scene they just sort of like
mushed up three different scenes in a way that made perfect sense and gave
all the necessary information and I
adored it, I really adored it, and the cast
Oh my god, Harry Potter series definitely has my favorite casting ever.
uh...
The characters just look exactly as I imagined them
and in the first
few movies Hermione also had the bushy hair
and they really stuck
to the little details and I never
care much that Harry did not have green eyes because omg his eyes
are gorgeous. but... yeah, so those stuff didn't bother me and I really enjoyed it
and even last ones, even though I wasn't the biggest fan of them I still really enjoyed them and loved seeing
the series end. and I definitely definitely enjoyed the Harry Potter movie series
It's one of the few book adaptions that I like
so this makes my list
in the third place
My second favorite book to movie adaption
Is Howl's Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones.
It was adapted into an Anime movie by Hayao Miyazaki
and I really really love the movie. I actually watched is first like a few
years before I read the book because I didn't know there was a book.
The moment I found out I ran and got it and
started reading it, and fell
completely in love with the plot and story and the characters... Definitely one of my
favorite books ever
and the movie
has very little to do with the book
becasue aside for the characters' names and general personality
the plots have nothing to do with each other. There is a different villain
uh... Sophie's family is different, Howl's reasoning for stuff is different. He is suddenly
like
uh...a person who doesn't like fighting, instead of just being a vain
and cowardly person.
So it's very very different.
Miyazaki took it to a completely different place and that's why I love it.
Because I could actually look at that movie and the book
as a completely different thing, different entities and I love both equality because of that.
both have great story-line, both have great characters and really entertaining and
fun. So... yeah,
definitely my second favorite book to movie adaption ever
and in first place you might notice there is nothing here... That's because I actually
burrowed the book from my uncle a long time ago, to read it, and I
return burrowed books. People,
always return books you borrowed.
and I still have not been able to get my hands on it
for my own collection so right now this is empty. But, the book I am talking about is
Princess Bride by William Goldman
and it's also
Princess Bride the movie by William Goldman, because the author and
the screenwriter were the same person.
which just goes to prove that authors should be
the ones to write their own screenplays.
Though that might just be William Goldman because he is
an amazing screenwriter on his own.
anyway
Princess Bride is
one of my favorite movies EVER
and finding out it had a book
was really exciting for me and I went and read it immediately. What I love most about the movie
is how it managed to stay true to the book
while still changing stuff. Because the book has this...
Story inside a story inside a story thing going around
but it would not have transated into the screen very well because it's not visual
so what
the screen writer and author did
was take the
idea behind a story inside a story and just give it a different meaning. In this case a grandfather telling his
grandchild the story that we see.
and
aside from being one of the funniest and one of the most
entertaining, most unique books I've ever read.
it's also one of the funniest and most unique
uh... movie I've ever watched and every minute of it is gold, just pure gold and...
if you have not watched this movie, it's amazing. Even now,
when I think it's about twenty five years old
it's still incredible. So here are some clips from the movie so you can see what I'm talking about
and
understand how fantastic it is
Isn't it just great?
You've got to watch this movie. Now, because the video turned out a little bit longer than I thought it would,
we're going to split this video
and I will link you to the
top three worst movie adaptions ever
either somewhere here or in the description down below or in both,
because I like mixing things up like that.
