Coming to college was I don't know, it was so...liberating in a way.
I get to take the classes that I want.
It's the schedule that I want.
You know for right now I'm getting my Associate's in it.
and I think the farther I get into college,
I think the more I'll figure it out.
Patrick: I'm a service tech/diesel mechanic.
I service semi-trucks.
Originally my plan was to come here to SLCC just to come
and do my Generals, then to be able to go somewhere else.
Maria: I'm taking student loans out but, yeah,
in the end I will be paying for it.
Josh: You know, my parents are helping a little bit,
but for the most part I have to pay for it myself.
Sarah: You know, when there's so much structure that you put
into from yourself, from your own life,
it gives you more sense of ownership of your schooling.
Marta: So I'm trying to do well
so I can maybe get a scholarship if possible.
Sarah: So I'm doing like Biology
and Chemistry and....all those fun classes (laughs.)
Maria: I'm actually working 30 hours...um...and
so I'm doing that, and then part-time school too, so....
You're not running sprints. You're running a marathon with school.
In a marathon, everyone has bad miles....but,
you're not running one mile. You're running twenty-six of them.
so....I think that's kind of the hardest part of college.
