Meet Jane.
She is one of the thousands of artists
who visit our schools, beautify our surroundings
and enrich our community's quality of life.
But she does so at the expense of her own wellbeing.
As a self-employed artist, her job doesn't provide health insurance.
She struggles to navigate the system, her income limits her options,
and she hasn't seen a doctor in years.
So, what the heck does that have to do with a small organization
in Minnesota with a staff of 12 artists?
Actually, there were only four of us back then.
We don't know everything about healthcare and health insurance.
But this is the story of how we found the people who do,
how Jane got the care she needed
and how you can help the artists in your community do the same.
It all started with a Health Fair we organized to bring artists and healthcare resources
together.
Over 300 artists, their families and dozens of healthcare and health insurance providers
showed up.
We made a breakthrough!
Next, we created a Guide to Healthcare to connect artists to these resources 24/7.
Then, we teamed up with a community clinic to offer vouchers towards discounted healthcare
services.
And, already, we've helped thousands of artists find high-quality,
affordable healthcare in the Twin Cities,
Including Jane, who we introduced to a local community clinic.
Little did she know, her next check-up would lead to the removal of abnormal cell activity,
saving her from cancer and medical fees she never could have afforded.
If four artists can do that, so can you.
