Test strips are an easy and convenient way of checking for your pool water chemical balance,
either in your swimming pool or your spa. These strips however are not designed for
commercial use, where you should be using a Palin test tester, or equipment like the
Palin Test. The original test strips like these ones you had to put into the pool or
spa and swirl them around three times, take them out and check the reading. The new ones
are now a one dip method. They come in 'Instatest 3' which is used for testing chlorine or bromine,
pH and alkalinity. And the 'Instatest 5' which covers the same three tests and also includes
total alkalinity and total hardness. These new tubes also have a desicating lining which
works similar to silica gel, and helps to protect the strips inside. To use them is
quite easy, just take the top off, preferably away from the pool or spa, take out a test
strip, close the top again to stop any moisture getting in. Dip the strip in and leave it
for a couple of seconds, take it out and check it against the tube to see how much chemicals
you need to add, and as you can see from this one our water is a little out of balance.
If we need to adjust the water balance, we have chemicals in the Essentials range, which
are useful for spas, and the swimmer range which are intended for swimming pool use,
similar chemicals but just in different quntities. If you need any further help with pool water
testing or the equipment, you can always contact us by email or phone.
