Welcome to Investigation Today. Tonight on Investigation Today. Residents in Stanmore Bay Whangaparaoa protest over the location of the
2degrees cell towers.
2degrees mobile is planning a cell site near
142 Stanmore Bay Road
to extend coverage to Whangaparaoa
but the residents near the proposed site are protesting that
2degrees should not put
a cell phone tower there. Here is the first to the residents near the site.
Dear Stanmore Bay residents
we are writing to update you on the
developments to improve mobile coverage in your area. 2degrees is planning to build mobile site
in the Stanmore Bay area.
in order to provide better coverage to customers
on the Whanagparaoa Peninsula last year we
considered a range of sites in the area.
And we were given consent by Auckland council to replace an existing lamppost in Stanmore Bay Road with a new pole that would also
house our mobile equipment. Earlier this year we met with residents in the area
who expressed concerns about the site being installed in Stanmore Bay Road. As we explained during this meeting
our preferred site is the road reserve
in Brightside Road where it cuts through
Stanmore Bay Reserve however after
extensive discussions with council 2degrees could
not proceed with this proposal as it will require affected party approval from the owner of the reserve. What about our health and
safety? Whichever site
is constructed
Please be assured that our equipment is safe and fully complies with the stringent standards by the New Zealand Ministry Of Health. Our sites
uses the same technology as WIFI, Cordless Phones and
Baby Monitors. For more information on our mobile sites please see the
enclosed brochure covers this in more detail. If you would

letter
Dear Residents,
thank you to those who attended the on site meeting in Stanmore
Bay Road with my colleagues on Monday to discuss 2degrees plans to improve mobile
coverage in your area. As explained
during the meeting we have invested considrable time in in resourcing in determining suitable locations,
equipment in the Stanmore Bay Reserve. However
extensive discussions with council have determined that this is not possible.
in parts due to
uh... current legislation.
we'll jump to the 4th paragraph now Ben.
ok
improving mobile coverage to the Whangaparaoa Peninsula
is important and we are keen to find a solution that is fair and
reasonable
for everyone
we believe installing our equipment in Brightside Road is the best solution
for all parties and we are willing to revisit this option. If you want to see
