Hello and thank you for watching this video. Today I would like to talk to you
about something that is very near and dear to my heart. Blood. That's right
blood. The American Red Cross is a great organization that collects blood for
patients in need. A few facts you might not know: Every two seconds, someone in the
USA needs blood; which equates to more than forty four thousand blood donations
being needed everyday meaning a total of thirty million blood components are
transfused each year in the USA. With the average blood cell transfusion being
approximately three pints.
Let us go visit Larry, a few doors down
Hi Larry.
How are you feeling today?
It appears that Larry is still sleeping.
You see, Larry was a victim of a pretty bad car accident.
He lost a lot of blood, but thanks to donations to the local red cross, he was
able to survive.
Let's just take a look at some things that you can do to help...The best thing
you can do is donate yourself. You can donate every fifty-six days and
it doesn't usually take more than fifteen minutes, plus it doesn't cost you
anything and you get free cookies and juice. Blood drives happen all over,
including schools, churches, and maybe even where you work.
You need only be seventeen years old and weigh at least 110
pounds. If needles aren't your thing, there are still things you can do to help!
You can go online to your favorite social media sites, such as Facebook,
Twitter, Google+, and more and post about upcoming blood drives and help to get
your friends involved. I hope this video has inspired you to help your local Red
Cross. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day!
