Now we're going to talk about grip. I know initially I talked about just the handshake
grip. When you get to the intermediate tennis chances are you're going to be hitting more
spin shots. So what you want to do is, especially if you're hitting top spin, what I do is I'll
turn my grip forward a little bit on the racket so that instead of the racket being in the
handshake grip, I will actually turn my hand back on the racket face so that its actually
if I held my palm down perpendicular or I'm sorry parallel to the court, the racket head
would also be parallel to the hitting area. So that as you can see, its not quite into
a handshake grip. A handshake grip would be right in here. The forehand topspin grip would
be cocked more to the flat part of the grip here on this side. So that like I side when
you hold your racket down, it is parallel with the hitting surface. So that that affords,
basically when you're swinging now, your face of your racket, as you can see, is closed
down. It?s aimed more towards the ground. And what that?s going to do is allow you to
come up and over the ball and actually have an angle so that the racket face is going
to basically carve kind of an arc around the ball for your top spin.
