democrat Terry McAuliffe has been elected virginia governor
and on the first day he assumed office
he passed the bill which enacts a hundred dollar gift cap
on himself his family and his employees meaning that they are not legally
allowed to take any kind of gift
valued at over 100 dollars this
is a very very good thing Lewis this is something
that everybody should do why do they need gets there there to serve the
people
they're there to do public service you don't need to get somehow I don't think
that many people are gonna be enacting similar bills
no David and his great is this is
ahead be a little bit greater we could do this with political contributions
yes it would and there are some people that are exempt from this including the
state attorney general and a couple about others
this is a good thing but wire they exempted that's a little bit weird
this should be a common practice but Lewis I'm honestly so cynical
that I find it difficult to trust this is just what it appears to be at face
value
I'm imagining his last day in office no walkout
with pallets all the boxes with hundred dollar gift cards worth tens of millions
of dollars or something
I just them so cynical about the entire system them again it sounds pretty good
but
is probably a buncha loopholes yeah
and maybe I i mean I guess it's kinda pointless now this would just be a PR
stunt seeing as how he's already in office
but I feel the same way I think during this program
has just made it very cynical alright let's take a break I want to remind you
that we are raising money to expand the show to five days a week
