As your out taking pictures you'll probably run into some challenging lighting situations
Such as when your subject is backlit causing a wide range of shadow to highllight
Sony e-mount camera's have two great features that will help you retain amazing shadow and
highlight details
Even in backlit or high contrast lighting
The camera's revolutionary auto HDR will allow you to create amazing HDR images without using
any computer software and the dynamic range optimizer makes it easy to capture great photos
of children and pets in even the most challenging lighting situations
Let's take a minute to learn about both of these camera features starting with Auto HDR
HDR stands for High Dynamic Range
It's a technique that's used in photography to create captivating photos of dramaticly
lit subjects
The HDR effect is created when three differently exposed images are combined to create a single
photo that shows a super realistic range of shadows and highlights
With other digital camera's this effect can only be achived through the use of sophisticated
computer software to combine the three exposures to create the HDR image
With the auto HRD feature you can create stunning HDR photos with the touch of a button because
it captures three shots the auro HDR feature is best for stationary subjects
Here's how to configure the camera to use the auto HDR setting
First make sure that the shooting mode is set to P A S or M
Now go to the camera's brightness color menu
Here you can scroll to the DRO auto HDR option
Press the center softkey to view the options
Use the control wheel to select the auto HDR setting
To fine tune the amount of exposure range you can press the bottom softkey and press
the top and bottom of the control wheel
The higher the number the wider the range from shadow to highlight that can be captured
in the image
Now simply take the picture
The camera will take three shots and after the images are combined the final HDR image
will be displayed on the camera's lcd
Now let's talk about the Dynamic Range Optimizer or DRO
This setting is simmilar to the auto HDR as it helps you to capture rich natural shadow
and highlight details in high contrast lighting but it differs from HDR in that it captures
just one image
So it can be used with moving subjects and can even be used with continuous shooting
the DRO setting is available when the camera's shoot mode is set to P A S or M and it's accessed
under the same option in the brightness color menu as auto HDR
Again just use the control wheel to scroll to the DRO auto setting
Here you can use the bottom softkey to adjust the level of optimization you'd like
Press the top and bottom of the control wheel to make your selection
The higher the number the more shadows and highlights will be recovered in an image
Now simply take the picture
The optimized image will be shown on the lcd
