And, and I know that at an event like Rendez-vous, people
like to sometimes say well you're like the church of the future, blah blah blah.
No, you're right now. You're here. You are the church now and
what I think is that by the willingness to come here,
be transformed, make new friendships;
you're part of dreaming a new church that we
not only are going to be, that we already are beginning.

We are in an era where I can go to the
Truth and Reconciliation Commission's final national event in Edmonton
and see thousands of non-native people there
committed to reconciliation; committed to justice for residential school survivors;
committed to hearing the truth.
And that is a testament
to the transformation that this country has gone through. That this country has changed.
It has changed in some very important ways.
But have we reconciled?
Are we where we want to go?

Carpe Diem.
Lean in and listen. Carpe, Latin, meaning seize.
Diem, the day. Seize the day.
Seize the day and make your lives
extraordinary. And that's what I want to say
about our time together at Rendez-vous. All 71 hours of it.
I want you to seize these days
and make of your life something extraordinary because
each one here has been made in the image of God and you are
unique and special, beloved by the
Holy and you are called into a journey that is so
rich and amazing that nobody else
can undertake. You have gifts and possibilities that
no other human being, in all creation, will
ever be able to offer to others, to the universe, to the unfolding of
time. So, here is an opportunity for us together,
with God, within and all around to
Carpe Diem. Seize these days.

It makes no sense in the final days, right? Like money ceases
to matter so much at the end that its
a little bit bewildering that we spend so much of our time before then
worrying about it. The differences between people
native, non, ceases to be important.
It's not like you say, hey I don't want to see any
Aboriginal people today.
No, whoever's there with you, you will visit with. And then,
food is important but then you stop eating.
And water is important, but then you stop drinking.
And air is important, but then you stop breathing.
And then for a short time,
you're still alive. You have your final resource - time.
But then, your time's up.
And so, what's left there? What's left in the end -
is love.
