Back in December, the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence embarked on a journey to bring
about cultural change across the center and Fort Rucker. Since then, members of the USAACE
team, from our officers, NCOs, civilians and contractors, many have jumped in to help make
USAACE a more efficient, professional and engaged organization. Part of this effort
lies with our Leading Change Team itself which has begun to develop and guide our change
efforts. With the Leading Change Team guiding this endeavor comes the opportunity for each
and every person at USAACE to get involved and put real and meaningful changes in place.
Although the Leading Change Team has shown great energy and commitment since they began,
the real success of this program will only be realized when the entire workforce begins
to embrace it; to realize that it takes just the smallest of ideas on how to change a process
or practice, even at the lowest level, and to follow with a successful end, not just
one time, but consistently and routinely. We know, just based on the past few months
of hearing about small wins, if you will, that these ideas have been out there for a
long time. Now, because of the effort to recognize the great ingenuity of our workforce, we have
been able to put their innovations into practice, and to bring an awareness that it’s everyone’s
job to improve their workplace. But what if you are not the one that can make a change
happen? What then? Well, today, I’m here to tell you that there
are LCT members who are ready to work with you as you take on the challenge of change.
The LCT members can help you facilitate the process and keep you moving in the right direction.
If your idea is one that needs to be improved but the LCT doesn’t have the authority to
do so, then that’s when the Senior Leader Team can be engaged. The Senior Leader Team
is made up of the USAACE commanding general and his key commanders and directors. The
commanding general and his team want you to understand that you are not in this struggle
through issues alone. We, at the top level of USAACE, are ready and eager to help you
with those efforts that will revolutionize the way we do business. However, this cannot
be a top-driven effort. So, as you identify problem areas, you should work within your
immediate organizations to fix whatever needs fixing. If the problems you find are beyond
your scope then make sure our Leading Change Team is aware of your problems so they can
put their efforts and resources to work to find viable solutions. Finally, if you want
to learn more about the Leading Change Team or the change effort you can visit our cultural
change collaboration website listed on the screen right now. There you will find information
and resources to help you better understand how we as a team can work together to achieve
change. Thank you for what you do each and every day for the Soldiers and Families of
Fort Rucker. Without you, we could not continue to produce world-class aviators and aviation
Soldiers who will leave here to go out to serve our great Army. Change is inevitable.
What we are trying to do here is to drive the changes instead of the changes driving
us. Together I know we can be in charge of our own destiny. Above the best.
