[Dad] Come down. Come down. Come here.
[Baby] I just saw those.
This is our Auto Club Southern California Day Trip to Oceanside.
This casual and unassuming coastal town is located just south of Camp Pendleton.
We're at Mission San Luis Rey.
Founded in 1798, this was the 18th of the 21 Spanish missions established in California.
Today we're going on a self guided tour.
This is the Agapito Court.
It is very relaxing because there are three fountains surrounding you.
Baby found a model of the mission.
We're continuing our tour of the museum.
This document was signed by Abraham Lincoln, returning the mission back to the Catholic church.
Next we visited the gift shop.
Now we're going to check out the cemetery.
This is the oldest cemetery in North County San Diego.
Lastly we're visiting the church.
Completed in 1815, this is the largest church of the California missions.
Unique to San Luis Rey are the side altars and the Madonna Chapel,
which originally served as a mortuary chapel.
We learned a lot at the Old Mission San Luis Rey.
For more information, visit sanluisrey.org.
We're at Petite Madeline Bakery.
Some of the flakiest croissants, chocolatines, and cinnamon buns are made here.
Now we're going to eat an All Day Bun.
You can view the menu at petitemadelinebakery.com.
We're at Oceanside Adventures.
This is a luxury whale watching company located in front of the historic lighthouse in Oceanside harbor.
We're taking a two hour excursion on Ocean Adventure's new 50 foot catamaran.
And the way we go.
Our boat is leaving the harbor.
Our first animal sighting was the sea lions.
You can tell there's a whale there due to its footprint.
Then we spotted a grey whale.
Grey whales got their name from the barnacles on their bodies.
Suddenly, a pod of dolphins swam by us.
These are Pacific White-Sided Dolphins.
This is the closest I got to see one in the wild.
And lastly, we saw the largest animal on earth, the blue whale.
Please book your tour at oceansidewhalewatching.com.
We're at Succulent Cafe.
This is a small, peaceful, outdoor courtyard coffee shop with walls covered with displays of succulents.
Now we're going to drink some lemonade.
Please check out succulentcafeoceanside.com to learn more.
We're at the California Surf Museum.
Founded in 1991, this museum showcases the evolution of surf boards.
This is Bethany Hamilton's shark bitten board.
I am looking at some surfing photography.
Here are some surfing memorabilia and surf wax.
Then even have interactive displays.
Lastly we're visiting the gift shop.
We had so much fun at the California Surf Museum.
Please check out surfmuseum.org to plan your visit.
We're at the Oceanside Museum of Art.
This is the premiere regional art museum in San Diego County.
Oh, it's an "O"!
I wish I could lift up the cone and wear it as a hat.
I am getting hypnotized.
This is the Majorie Nodelman exhibit.
Is he sleeping or what?
Ya, this is creepy.
And Baby is making his own art.
