Ohio police have concluded a year-long investigation, saying they arrested a drug kingpin who ran
a multimillion dollar marijuana ring. Sounds like your run-of-the-mill drug bust, right?
Wait until you hear the twist on this one. Here’s KPTV.
“The alleged mastermind behind the multimillion dollar drug ring is 17 years old. … They
were the main suppliers for two school districts.”
Yep, you heard that right -- a 17-year-old
alleged drug lord. ABC News has the details on the teen’s operations.
“Police say the teen worked with this network of adult suppliers. The organization had more
than 600 plants in suburban homes, valued at 3 million dollars.”
CBS News reports that the teen was
“… found with 6 thousand dollars in his closet...”
and that ...
“...he was selling to six other people who were kind of like
his lieutenants...then they were distributing the drugs to other high school students."
And if you were wondering... yes, the entire operation was uncovered by an undercover sting,
21 Jump Street-style. The National Enquirer says it was a special strain of pot that sparked
the cops’ interest.
“Cops first learned of a super-marijuana,
a high-grade hydroponic strain of pot, that was being sold on the street for $350-$400
an ounce near Cincinnati last year. … The teen drug dealer in an apparent effort to
set up a future plea bargain deal then lead cops to uncover a major hydro-farming operation,
run by locals habitués in three surrounding towns.”
Officers told WKRC the teen doesn’t fit the mold of the typical drug dealer.
“He looks like someone who'd be in your church youth group. He looks like someone
who'd be on student council or be a good friend to one of your young people. And I think this
in and of itself is somewhat scary."
With the young kingpin’s help, seven adults
who grew the pot he sold have also been indicted. The juvenile was only 15 years old when the
investigation into his drug ring began.
