Well, I'm Gillian Triggs the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission and
I'd like to talk to you about thinking of nominations for the 2013 Human Rights Awards.
We hold these awards every year on the World's Human Rights Day on the 10th December and
this year we're holding it for the first time at the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular
Quay in Sydney. The point of these awards is to recognise
organisations who have made a outstanding contribution to human rights in Australia.
We don't always know who these people are and you do.
So we'd like to get out into the community, to rural Australia, suburban Australia, to
the organisations, schools and various institutions where individuals and organisations are working
to improve human rights. So give it a little bit of thought, perhaps
get your nominations in as soon as you can. They need to be in by Friday 13th of September.
You can download a nomination form from our website at hrawards.humanrights.gov.au or
if you're not so keen on working on the web just give us a phone call and we'll assist
you it's a very easy process and the number is (02) 9284 9600.
We'd love to hear from you, we want to really get out into that wider community in recognising
the work of the people that we perhaps don't always hear about.
So act quickly and don't miss out.
