JASON SHERIDAN: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Jason Sheridan for Sheridan Fencing
Academy here in New York City. Today, we'll be talking about beginning sabre fencing.
As an alternative to lunge, another way to go forward when you want to hit your opponent
is with something called a "fleche." On this case, we use a sabre fleche, sometimes referred
to as a flunge. Note carefully the movement. Very important to know a rule in sabre, you're
not allowed to cross your legs going forward when you want to hit someone. So when I'm
making this movement, I'm trying to go forward, extending my arm, extending the back leg,
and jumping off the front leg. And here, you'll notice I land before I cross, directly I'm
crossing after the action is over. I'll do it one more time and once again very slowly.
